Calamus rudentum Roxb.[edit]

I have a reference that uses the taxa Calamus rudentum Roxb. This taxa is not currently supported, it is referred to in one source as an 'orthographic variant'. Fine, but I can't find an accepted synonym, is it that it is just Calamus rudentum Lour. or is it just a weird original publication with no obvious taxa to pin it to? Interesting. IPNI has three occurrences of Calamus rudentum, of which C. rudentum Lour. is the oldest and so the only valid one. "C. rudentum Roxb." comes from this source, p. 72, according to IPNI. It appears to be just a listing by Roxburgh, so isn't actually a valid publication of a name. So I think that it probably is a name without an obvious taxon to pin it to, although it might be meant to be C. rudentum Lour.. I certainly can't see that it's an orth. var. Thanks Peter coxhead, maybe I should contact IPNI as they suggest, or wait for a new Arecaceae flora of Cambodia to replace Dy Phon
