Academic controversy

I really think issues addressed in this reversion could better have been addressed by better sourcing and more faithfully citing the facts, so that's what I've tried to do. The previous editor's summary of the NYT article was certainly POV. I've tried to provide a fairer summary of the facts as they can be ascertained by publicly available sources; unfortunately the NYT article is no longer free, but I provided the link regardless. I feel pretty strongly that this material is relevant and encyclopedic, but I'm happy to work with consensus to get an NPOV summary of the facts of the case. - PhilipR 04:01, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

The section still has a factual error regarding when Williams took the courses in question and has some POV slant, not the least because it doesn't follow up on the published conclusions from the university's investigation. I'll make some efforts to correct. When I first ran across it I didn't have time to clean it up appropriately, so just reverted what was a clear POV slant on the report. The NYT article itself is questionable as to the authors' motives considering other reports [1] [2] of athletes in similar courses at other universities. Why was it not a broad article on academic issues in college athletics rather than being focused exclusively on Auburn? AUTiger ʃ ^talk/_work 18:18, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

This article should be titled Carnell Williams. "Cadillac Williams" is a common nickname, but it not "always" used in his reference.Doctorindy 14:31, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Article name change: Cadillac-Carnell

I think we should change the article from his nickname "Cadillac Williams" to his legal name of "Carnell Williams". We could absolutely mention his nickname in the other parts of the article, but this is supposed to be like a biography not a fan site.
