Modern references[edit]

In Christopher Fry's play, The Lady's Not for Burning, 1948, Thomas Mendip (pretending to be Satan) says (if memory serves) "...My incubae and succubai, my imps and cacodemons would leap from their baths of boiling brimstone, shouting Eureka!
