Amazon link and dates[edit]

Adding two different dates for the iTunes and Amazon release dates to the infobox is messy and not the standard procedure for song articles as per general WP:MOS for song articles. Generally, that type of information is placed under a "Release history" section towards the foot of the article, as we see on Ride (Lana Del Rey song). Additionally, adding links to Amazon is not helpful because, first, the single is available for download on other websites, not just Amazon; moreover, Amazon is a disambiguation page. The correct link should be Amazon.com. On top of this, judging by the amount of times these types of edits have been reverted in the history of this article, and the other articles where these types of disruptive and irrelevant changes are being, other editors do not find these changes desirable or necessary. I have changed the article back to being a single. If a source after the single release (March 19th) still calls it a promo single (It wasn't released when Spin called it one), change it back to a promo single. Zach 08:47, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I understand. It would have been nice to have that explained to me. I felt the approach you took was rather rude. That aside, why was the link to the music video removed from the infobox? Also, why was the mention of the film "Desire" removed? The song is supposed to serve as the soundtrack for that short film. Don't confuse me with Dark Beauty Paradise (talk · contribs). I just added what appeared to be pretty cut and dry (in my eyes) corrections to the article. You then reverted me; and then I explained what I was saying afterwords. Mind you, there also wasn't a source in the article beforehand using the word promo single. I wouldn't say it's entirely necessary to go into such detail in the lead about it, but of course it can be mentioned, and as for the music video in the infobox... I wonder why that hasn't been removed yet from the coding. I should start a discussion on the template page about removing it (sort of a side note). It's ugly and clogs up the infobox, no? The fact that the song is being used as a soundtrack for a film seems very notable -- definitely notable enough to be included in the lead. In fact, I would say it's one of the most notable things about the song. At any rate, I feel that the inclusion of the music video link is very, very helpful, smooth-looking, and adds quite a bit to the article. Especially since readers of the article are more than likely going to want to see the music video. I hate to use WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, but here is another example of when it is a great benefit to the project. Poker Face (Lady Gaga song) just as a completely random example has it. Including a link to the music video in the infobox is quickly becoming the standard for song articles.
