LGBT studies. Citation needed?[edit]

Please add something to the article. If there is a relevance to LGBT studies it should be included in the article, otherwise (if perhaps Bryan Fuller is very private about his private life) the tag should be removed and his sexuality not mentioned at all. -- Horkana (talk) 02:48, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

One of the external links is to an article from Out Magazine which includes the line "Bryan Fuller, a gay former writer on [Star Trek]". The article vaguely suggests his sexuality informs his writing so it might actually be relevant to include it. -- Horkana (talk) 22:49, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The popgurls interview mentions a gay storyline/subtext from Heroes "we didn't want to get hung up on the fact that one actor's management felt that it was a career killer for him to play a homosexual which, as a gay man, I found incredibly insulting". Still considering how to incorporate his sexuality into the article in an appropriate way such as how it affects his writing and work. The criticism from MGM about Dead Like Me "they would tell me I didn't know what a pretty woman looks like because I'm a gay man" seems pretty notable but needs to be presented in a larger context. -- Horkana (talk) 21:54, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The easiest approach to my original question would have been to tag the article with {{Wikipedia:WikiProject LGBT studies/Category unsourced}} . This article and the LGBT categories are not properly explained and referenced with inline citations but there is enough above and in the External links section (as of Jan 2010) for anyone interested in fixing it. Notable Works[edit]

I changed his 'notable works' section to replace Star Trek DS9 with Star Trek Voyager. His work on Voyager is far more prolific (81 episodes as a writer, story editor, etc - vs only 2 episodes of DS9), and Star Trek DS9 as a property is not particularly more notable than Voyager. Therefore in his infobox Star Trek Voyager seems far far more appropriate and relevant. Etcee (talk) 02:58, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The external links section was mostly deleted for reasons that are not clear to me. The links were not ideal for that section but that isn't a good reason to delete them, and there were several articles and interviews that would make good inline references if anyone wants to take the time to restore them to the article -- 109.78.220.238 (talk) 16:30, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Frequent casting[edit]

I'm not sure about the Frequent casting section. As his body of work expands it makes less and less sense. Perhaps in time a specific actor will be cast by Fuller so many times it they will merit a particular mention but from the table it seems as if Fuller hasn't yet cast the same actor more than three times, making it all seem not very notable. I agree with this, especially since the majority of the "frequent" actors have only been cast in 2 things. It's unnecessary information and clutters the page. Frequent casting?[edit]

If you cast someone twice in near 20 years and one is a cameo - is that frequent? Feel like original research to me. What is the authority and RS for these claims? Cameron Scott (talk) 16:42, 3 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The frequent casting is not so frequent. As of 2021 only Beth Grant has been in his works 4 times, 3 times for Chelan Simmons and Jonathan Tucker. Caroline Dhavernas had two major roles, I suspect her episode count is higher than anyone else despite only 2 entries on the table, it's unhelpful and misleading.

The Fullerverse section of the article already far better describes the interconnections of his work. It has been years since I questioned the inclusion of the table and this point I'm ready to remove the table purely based on WP:PROSE.

I'm going to remove the table. We can still discuss the possibility of a different version of the table. A table that include episode count or distinguished between main roles and cameos might be worthwhile. -- 109.79.161.25 (talk) 06:57, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
