"cut" during the ending sequence pan

When the camera pans down the row of cells at the end of the film, as it passes the now empty cell that the now dead Burt Lancaster and his buddies were in, there is a cut in the film. The lighting in the cell is slightly different, and the cell door is slightly ajar when the pan continues. I thought that possibly one of the light bulbs in the cell burned out as the shot was being made, but then they would have re-filmed the entire pan. So I assume that after the actors in the first cells had left the location, they decided that they needed to re-shoot, and possibly change, the ending. So they picked up the pan at the empty cell, and did a reasonable although obvious job of it.

MGM?

Something I don't understand in this article. It is a direct quote from Dassin complaining about MGM's interference in the making of this movie. But this movie was made at Universal, not MGM. Am I missing something? Stetsonharry (talk) 14:18, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

I've decided to be bold and remove entirely the segment that has him griping about "MGM studio bosses" concerning a Universal picture. It just makes no sense, and it has the odor of a hoax or serious error. Stetsonharry (talk) 14:32, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Plot

"...Munsey has promised him parole soon."

Was there a scene in which Capt. Munsey made that promise to Gallagher? If so, I missed it. However, I recall a scene in Warden Barnes' office, when Barnes showed Gallagher the order rescinding all parole hearings. Gallagher then expressed his disgust to Barnes, including words to the effect of "you promised me parole soon." --Rich Janis (talk) 04:13, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
