Mixed origin? How would that have happened? It seems more likely, that the German name Braunstein was anglicised into the similar sounding Brownstein. The spelling of the name was changed, but the origin is German. If you look into a German phonebook, you’ll find the name Braunstein. What is “mixed origin“ for a name supposed to mean?
