Copyvio?[edit]

Is this a copyright violation from the Coast Guard web site? It looks word for word (hence the lack of wikifying). --Midnightdreary 15:35, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Importance[edit]

I have heavily edited this, "It has a signature of a flashing white light every 10 seconds, and is visible from a distance of 16 miles (26 km). Whilst still an important navigation mark, its importance has been decreased by the presence of a lightship to the east, and the more powerful Graves Light to the northeast."

There is no longer a lightship or even a large navigational buoy to the east.
It is much more powerful than The Graves (27nm visibility versus 15nm)

Finn's Ledge[edit]

I have removed this, :

"On Christmas Day 1909 the five-masted schooner Davis Palmer, heavily loaded with coal, hit Finn's Ledge and went down with all hands."

Finn's Ledge is on the west side of the Boston North Channel, about three miles from Boston Light. A vessel using the North Channel does not pass Boston Light.. . . . Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talk • contribs) 19:59, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

USS Alacrity[edit]

So far as I can tell, the DAB page to which this (USS Alacrity) links does not appear to list the ship referred to in the article. Geopersona (talk) 20:32, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Provincetown Ferry[edit]

The picture that shows Boston Light and Graves Light states that a Provincetown Ferry is in between them. The picture shows a catamaran ferry heading in a westerly direction between Graves and Outer Brewster Island, probably headed towards Hypocrite Channel. The Provincetown Ferry route takes Nantasket Roads, which would take it south of Boston Light. I believe that the boat in the picture is a whale watch boat, probably returning from Stellwagen Bank. --RadioTheodric (talk) 13:36, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Date of construction[edit]

Is there a particular reason that the date of construction is given as 1716 below a photo of a building that was constructed in 1783? It's misleading. I understand there's pride in the current lighthouse having been built to resemble the tower that previously stood on this site, but clearly they are different structures existing on different timelines. --Bay & Gables (talk) 15:34, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

History... no source?[edit]

I notice there's no citations for the history of Boston Light section. A lot of these details are coming from the NPS website, which in turns provides the different sources for their information there. I think it's important to note where these details are coming from.
