Notability concerns[edit]

This "movement"'s sole claim to notability is Kanye West's purported involvement, but now he denies any involvement whatsoever with this movement. Perhaps, the article should be deleted. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 22:58, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with merging this as I was a bit dubious about its notability. Clearly it's notable enough to be mentioned both in Owens' and West's articles, but as a standalone? If I may paraphrase for a moment, as things currently stand it's probably a case of "Blexit means Wexit". This is Paul (talk) 16:25, 31 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Blexit and Blexit foundation[edit]

Redirecting searches for "Blexit" to the subsection Candace Owens#Blexit foundation is undue.

Blexit, a strategic movement towards Black economic independence by encouraging African-Americans to leave traditional financial systems that have long taken advantage of the Black community. Blexit was formed in Minnesota in 2016 as the product of community meetings after the police killing of Philando Castile in St. Paul. The term was coined by Me’Lea Connelly.^[1]^[2]^[3]

Only searches for "Blexit foundation" should be redirected to the subsection so as not to confuse readers who are looking for information on the Minnesota grassroots movement. Seems to me there are two options to do that: move the page or make a new page, preferably the latter and keeping this page as a stub for now. Notes from new page patrol review[edit]

There at several problems here with what is currently a dis-ambiguation page:

Too long of a description for a disambig entry on the Minnesota movement. It needs to be a brief note that directs readers to the article which covers it. This is not the place for a mini-article

The topic isn't even mentioned at the linked Minnesota article.

Your simplest fix would be to move the material and sources to the targeted Minnesota event article and then shorten the entry here to a brief description and link to that article. Alternatives to this could be:

Simply convert it back to a redirect to the foundation article.
If the topic is wp:notable, create an article on the Minnesota movement Blexit topic and pare the disambig entry to target that article.

The page as of today is a set index, so strictly the criteria for a disambiguation page don't apply. It is still problematic, though. Even a set index should be a list of Wikipedia articles which either could have or at least are related to the title. Instead, one entry appears to be mainly POV-pushing and "Blexit" isn't even mentioned at the only linked Wikipedia page. It is also arguable whether the two described alternatives really qualify as two instances of the same class of objects title "Blexit". Again, it just appears to me to be an attempt to shoehorn in material that isn't really notable enough for an article. Lithopsian (talk) 14:49, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
