Not sure how this relates to this article? I don't see anything other than "Blair" and she/her pronouns listed here currently. If St. Clair didn't gain notability under her birth-assigned name and gender, then there's no reason to mention them. Funcrunch (talk) 15:01, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify: While traditionally most drag queens are cisgender men, some are trans women or non-binary, so gender id and pronouns need to be checked individually. Not sure from the referenced tweet how St. Clair identifies, but it is clear she does not go by her legal name or he/him pronouns, so we should respect that here. Sort[edit]

On a related note, we should discuss sorting. For most drag queens, we've sorted by first name because this is how they are most known and in many cases the last name of their stage name makes for awkward sorting (i.e., Detox Icunt). Currently, this article only mentions "Blair St. Clair". Is this no longer a stage name? Should we actually be using "St. Clair" as a last name and for sorting purposes? ---Another Believer _(Talk) 15:06, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is starting to approach a case where the performer does not use a drag name at all (e.g. Derrick Barry, Charlie Hides). Why not default sort all contestant articles as at Category:RuPaul's Drag Race contestants? Last year's discussion about sorting is still on the talk page there. Armadillopteryx, I'm not sure I understand your comment. Are you suggesting we should sort by first name in all categories for articles about drag queens, or...? Above, I'm noting the standard of sorting draq queens by first name, but in this case, I'm wondering if "St. Clair" is now a "true" last name and not part of a stage name. ---Another Believer _(Talk) 23:10, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's a tough call since "St. Clair" is clearly not her legal last name, but she appears to have made it unambiguously clear that she wants it to be used as her last name both in and out of drag. I have no problem honoring that, especially since we have written documentation of that request (these Tweets). Others may feel differently. As for sorting by first name, I do think we ought to choose one method to use across the board, but I understand if people are loath to open up that can of worms again (or just now). @Gagaluv1 (I'm not sure if that's how you tag an user) has raised an interesting point here. According to them, Blair receives songwriting credit under her birth name, Andrew Bryson. I tried to check for confirmation but to be honest I'm rather bad at online music platforms and couldn't find the credits for the songs. Yet, I will asume it's true (although I think some evidence here would be useful and might serve as a reference for the information in the article). I think this would deserve a discussion here: Do those songwriting credits merit inclusion of her birth name in the article? Would it merit inclusion in the lead? I would agree that there may be a strong case for the first, I'm not so sure about the second. I'd like to open this conversation just so there is an agreement on how to handle this case.
