Separate Please[edit]

Birks had its own building and it deserves its own article.

Birks & Mayors was created in November 2005 through the merger of the Henry Birks and Sons Ltd. chain in Canada and the Mayors Jewelers Inc. chain in the United States. Since this was part of the systematic dismantling of Canada, part of the terrorist attacks of 911, the original H.B. & Sons should have its own separate article.

On April 04, 2005, Raise The Hammer voted the demolition of The Birks Building as This Month's Atrocity: "Oscar Wilde called it "the most beautiful building in all of North America," but that didn't stop Hamilton City Council from voting to demolish the historic Birks Building in 1973, despite public protest." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.141.12.191 (talkcontribs)

This is not a question of whether Birks "deserves" its own article or not. The question is whether this article can be expanded with sufficient good content to justify creating "sub"-articles for the Birks and Mayors retail banners (or, alternatively, articles such as History of Henry Birks and Sons Ltd.). Just because Birks has had some beautiful buildings in its history does not itself justify an article split. Skeezix1000 (talk) 12:53, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
