Dubbel, Tripel and Quaderupel

To cut these styles from the 'Belgian' section is not right. These styles are copied outside of Belgium (see beer advocate, or anyone who is regular drinker of Unibroue (of Quebec, Canada). I don't know why they are not on the Belgian Template anymore. I don't know how to edit templates. This needs to be fix. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.184.48.233 (talk) 10:32, 6 December 2009 (UTC) I'd also like to add, that although Beer Advocate lists many finely articulated styles, many which might be contested by other beer critiquing sources, Dubbel, Tripel and Quads are fairly well recognized. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.184.48.233 (talk) 10:48, 6 December 2009 (UTC) Will also note that Quads are not well established as a style, but which are NOT like Tripel, as Tripels are light coloured and Quads are not but are higher then Tripels (and thus, much hier then Dubbels). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.184.48.233 (talk) 10:51, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Unreliable sources

Sources
Starting a list of articles with some questionable refs. --Ronz (talk) 18:00, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Most of the jeannierenee.com usage includes linkspam, so I'm going to clean that up first. --Ronz (talk) 18:31, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
I've removed the linkspam. All the jeannierenee.com links appear to have been added by the author against WP:COI. --Ronz (talk) 19:08, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

I've reviewed the jeannierenee.com source and agree it is unreliable. I have removed the questionable material from the article. SilkTork *YES! 15:52, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

I've replaced belgianexperts.com with alternative sources in Saison and Tripel. SilkTork *YES! 16:07, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Meaning of Tripel

The meaning of the designation Dubbel (double), Tripel (triple), and now Quadruple when talking about beers, especially Belgian beers is not a mystery. When brewing beer you need a source of sugar. That's what ferments and converts to alcohol. More sugar equals more alcohol. The source for sugar in beer is typically malted barley. Although malts of wheat, rice, and other grains are used to varying degrees. So a beer of normal strength has a normal amount of malt sugar. If you want stronger beer you add twice or thrice the amount of malt sugar. Though the beer will not be twice or thrice as strong. So the term DUBBEL comes from the addition of adding DOUBLE the amount of malt. The TRIPEL designation is earned by beers brewed with TRIPLE the amount of malt.67.253.12.119 (talk) 02:47, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
