Picture[edit]

Why is the image used here for Colón - a pitcher - a picture of him apparently fielding the ball?? Is there not a good image of him actually pitching? --patton1138 (talk) 18:36, 7 June 2009 (UTC) Apparently it's been corrected. 23:42, 29 October 2019 (UTC)Nigelrg (talk)[reply]

Cy Young[edit]

I reverted the 15:53, 11 November 2005 version by 81.197.168.191 because, at the moment, it looks very much like sour grapes. I'm an Angels fan and would have voted for Santana rather than Colón, but it would be better to go about this by briefly touching on what might have made the vote a little controversial (Colón was third on his own team among qualifiers for the ERA title, Santana's got him beat by about four Win shares, Colón's run support was a little better and more consistent, etc.) rather than just tossing in an "undeservedly" that seems a bit unencyclopedic, I think. Adbarnhart 17:13, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, dude. I was just having a laugh ;) btw. updated the page to include this year's stats.

-E_05 (aka 81.197.168.191)

Fair enough. I carp pretty much every year about awards selections and the Cy Young (Award For The Guy Who Has The Most Wins, or whatever you called it) is probably the worst of them all, though I have my problems with The Guy With The Most RBI Award (aka MVP), too. And giving a Gold Glove to Derek Jeter.Adbarnhart 22:19, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone Else Think This Was Rude[edit]

The guy just decided to not come back because he was unhappy with how they were playing him. Who is going to want to sign someone who is going to refuse to play when he's unhappy with how he is being played? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.123.224.153 (talk) 21:05, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, not everyone. Terry Foote (talk) 13:29, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Any team would sign Big Sexy any day. He'll play till he's 60. Leggomygreggo8 (talk) 13:31, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No kid! I watched him when he pitched for the A's, and loved him. I can't believe that anyone so apparently out of shape is still pitching so late in life. Maybe because his blood pressure is near zero - nothing fazes him.23:47, 29 October 2019 (UTC)Nigelrg (talk)

wiki-links in infoxbox: when is it proper & when is it not proper[edit]

I just removed the infobox wiki-links for the debut year, debut team, and the year in the statyear parameter. It is my knowledge that although they are this way for many former players, it is not current practice to wiki-link the debut year and debut team. Secondly, I don't believe that it is common practice to wiki-link the year (to the current year in MLB baseball) in the statyear parameter. All that being said, if it becoming common practice (not just an "I like it that way attitude"), please let me know. Bob305 (talk) 17:23, 9 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In the first paragraph, Colón is erroneously credited as the last active former member of the Montreal Expos. Endy Chávez is active and playing for the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Chávez's status should be noted.[1]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Mlpearc (open channel) 17:18, 13 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Still  Not done. The text calls Colón "the last active Major Leaguer who has ever played for the Montreal Expos." Chávez is not in the majors. RunnyAmigatalk 16:06, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Almost perfect game[edit]

The article states that his perfect game lasted until the 7th inning, but this article by ESPN states it was the 8th inning. Might wanna change that. 108.30.110.252 (talk) 23:44, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
