Unrealistic price comparisons[edit]

At the time of the Roamer's introduction in 1916, a Lozier cost between $1895 und 2775; the mentioned higher prices were drastically reduced after 1913. They are not relevant for the Roamer, anyway, as Lozier closed in 1918. Real competitors in the early 1920s were Packard, Pierce-Arrow, Peerless or Lincoln, among others.

When the Barley was introduced in 1922, the Enger Motor Car Company had closed 5 years before, Fal 8 years before, and the short-lived Colt Runabout Company a full 15 years before. The Cole was not an important competitor. The Barley was placed in a market segment shared with many upper-middle class makes, among them Cadillac, Chrysler (after 1924), Nash, Auburn or Chandler.

Much more informative than the price of the Oldsmobile Curved Dash, which was built from 1901 until 1907, would be the price of the Ford Model T: A Touring car cost $360 in 1917, $525 in 1919, and $348 in 1922. In 1924, 55% of all American-built automobiles were Model T's.--Chief tin cloud (talk) 18:02, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
