Does anyone have any reference books or other reliable sources on this city?[edit]

I'd like to help editing this article. I will try to look for reference books. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk) 23:36, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Banciao or Banqiao?[edit]

The article name is Banciao, but most of the article spells it Banqiao. Shouldn't the article stick primarily to one or the other form? Sakkura (talk) 21:17, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Banqiao is the standard Hanyu pinyin spelling. I'm not sure what the current administration on Taiwan prefers in official publications. The Wade-Giles spelling formerly used by the government on Taiwan was Pan-chiao (or, without the hyphen, Panchiao). -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk) 01:00, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: page moved to the suggested title already; just closing the discussion. This talk page needs moving to match the article; I'll just do that now. - GTBacchus(talk) 05:50, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Banqiao, Taiwan and Banciao, TaiwanBanqiao District — Banqiao City has become Banqiao District since December 25, 2010.--I am a horny pussycat.Meow 04:50, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. Consistency is good. --Nlu (talk) 20:39, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Question. Do you have a source for a change you state occurred the day of your request? 75.202.198.52 (talk) 10:20, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • It's pretty well-established. For news coverage on the changes in general, see, e.g., China Post article. For Banqiao specifically, see Liberty Times article (which is in Chinese, if you can read it). Also see the official Web page ([1]) (which, of course, oddly enough still refers to the greater entity as Taipei County in English). --Nlu (talk) 14:04, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • The city now has even new website, with hanyu pinyin version of it's name: www.banqiao.tpc.gov.tw Hoa binh (talk) 14:39, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support move to pinyin version but suggest a general discussion on whether the word "District" is necessarily appended to unambiguous former cities and townships now part of Xinbei. — AjaxSmack 03:48, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Perhaps not, but given the fact that some require "District" to be unambiguous, I think having "District" is good for consistency. --Nlu (talk) 04:31, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sourced. Support, with discussion suggested below. 75.203.198.215 (talk) 07:11, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
