Impact of 2008 financial crisis[edit]

On 21 May 2008 the index reached its record high level since its introduction in 1998, reaching 11,793 points. Half a year later, on 5 December 2008, the index had dropped by 94%, to 663 points, the lowest since 1986.

So how does this index manage to exist before it exists? There is clearly something wrong or incorrect here. Can somebody correct this, please? 85.178.91.142 (talk) 03:14, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nominal or real[edit]

Is the BDI a nominal or real (deflated) measure? There is no info anywhere on this. (Jan 23, 2009, MTL) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.9.3.65 (talk) 15:46, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is purely a nominal index, not adjusted for inflation. Edmond8674 (talk) 14:03, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
