WWE.com confirms Charlotte vs. Carmella at Backlash[edit]
Can the match be added as WWE has confirmed it. Tonight on Smackdown, Carmella & Charlotte will sign the contract for their Backlash match. The preview is seen here on WWE.com http://www.wwe.com/shows/smackdown/2018-04-24

Publicize MITB 2018[edit]
As Backlash is now over and we begin the build to Money In The Bank, I think now both Takeover Chicago II and MITB should be made public for the construction to begin, as there will be qualifying matches on both RAW and Smackdown. KingOfTheRing (talk) 12:23, 7 May 2018 (UTC)
Final Backlash?[edit]
Pro wrestling is not my area of expertise, but while updating the SNHU Arena page (host of Backlash (2005)), I noticed an uncited and baffling statement that Backlash 2018 is the "final" Backlash. I know the 2018 show was the most recent one, and I don't see anything saying when the next one might be, but I also couldn't find anything in the article or the official WWE website (or anywhere else) explaining why there couldn't be more Backlash shows in the future. - @TimothyHorrigan: I think this is a common issue around wikipedia with TV shows as well. Often times shows are not announced as canceled or not renewed, they just kind of drift away. When that happens what do you? For example, Prison Break did a fifth season a couple years ago. 18 months ago they said they are working on season 6, but at this point, is that ever really going to happen? What I typically see is after 1 year, if nothing airs, and there is nothing announced/confirmed it is listed as having ended. I see this as the same. Nothing stops them from doing something again, but if nothing has happened in a year or planned, when is it final? Starrcade for example had nothing from 2000 until 2017.
- This series for example, WWE Backlash had events from 1999-2009 then it came back in 2016. I am sure after 2009 they never announced it was final, but was none airing for 6 years enough to call it final? - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 16:58, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks! I think I was thrown off by the common terms "chronology" and "brand" which have slightly different meanings in the context of WWE than they do elsewhere. I do understand that the 2018 Backlash was a flop, anyway. I am inferring the decision not to schedule a new Backlash show had nothing to do with old storylines coming to their conclusion: it was apparently made simply because WWE saw no need to keep going. - Yeah, the whole "final show" thing refers to the fact that WWE has seemingly decided not to use the name for future pay-per-view events. It's not like a TV show where they announce that it's been cancelled or that it's the final season. Rather, WWE simply announces the dates and dates for their monthly PPV events, and if they don't use the name "Backlash" (for example) on their calendar, we can assume that the name's been quietly retired (but for all we know, WWE can decide to bring back the name at the last minute, so that fact can also change). - @TimothyHorrigan: So the WWE released a revamped app this week and I was just using it for the first time. When you go into the pay-per-view section for WWE, it lets you filter by event name. A new subcategorization is in this version, and the show names are broken down into "Current PPVs" and "Retired PPVs". Backlash is listed under Retired. I suppose this is a pretty fair way to show they view it as final. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 18:20, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
