Map[edit]

I'm not gifted with map making, but I'd like to see a better map for LaBalme's Defeat. If it were expanded to show Kaskaskia and Detroit (his intended destination), it'd be much more complete. If we really wanted to get crazy, it could also include Petit fort. Canute (talk) 05:23, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Split Article?[edit]

Should we split the article into a Bio about La Balme and another about LaBalme's Defeat? They are definitely different topics, so I guess it's a question of whether we have enough info on each to warrant unique articles. Canute (talk) 15:11, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I split the article into Augustin de La Balme and La Balme's Defeat. Working on cleanup. Thank you for your patience.Canute (talk) 17:49, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"French Soldiers"[edit]

What is the best term for the people who accompanied La Balme on his (failed) expedition to Fort Detroit? I wonder because when this article refers to them as "French soldiers," that seems a little misleading. They weren't actual Soldiers from France. But it seems that force was generally comprised of French-speaking colonials, which stands out as a unique set of people in contrast to those loyal to Great Britain, the English-speaking colonials fighting against Great Britain, and the Native American nations. "French colonials"? "French-speaking militia"? "French Canadians"? Curious what terms we you all prefer. Canute (talk) 15:18, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
