Subjective/non-neutral point of writing[edit]

I very much agree with you. Big parts of the article are not written in a style you'd expect from an encyclopedia. That ought to be changed.

"Pimping" your A2[edit]

I too agree. This is an encyclopedia. If you're going to buy an elephant, you won't want to read about how to paint it pink, you'll want to know what it eats. It's the same with cars, you don't find a section on "pimping" in a Mazda 6 article do you? Therefore, this section is completely irrelevant, not written in the right style (most of the article isn't actually)and most importantly not very informative.

Service panel comments - and the gender police[edit]

I am amazed that the gender police haven't descended on the "This comes over badly with guys, who want to stand around with the bonnet up; the girls find it generally good that they don't have to get dirty hands to fill screenwash" comment!

I would far rather see this rephrased in a style more fitting of a reference work.

Miles per Gallon[edit]

Removal of Trivia[edit]

I'm suprised the trivia section hadn't been flagged. There was only two facts in it, one about the special edition a2 pickup and the other about the designer being the same bloke that did the lambo Murciélago. I've taken out the bit about the designer and renamed the section. If anyone can think of a better heading or a better place to merge it into the article, please do. I figured the fact that it was designed by the same guy as the lambo (Luc Donckerwolke) was a bit of a pointless thing to put. After all, car designers have usually worked on a ton of cars, so why bother pointing out one of the particular cars he's designed. Perhaps it would be better to just mention that he was the designer at some point during the article. --Norman22b (talk) 21:30, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia Sections are discouraged but it doesn't mean you can carte blanche delete them, there's no valid reason to delete the info about the designer Silent52 (talk) 01:14, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why it failed.[edit]

The big problem was price. For the diminutive A2's hefty price tag (5 million forints here in Hungary, about 2x to 2,5x times the usual price for this size category), you could buy a 115bhp Skoda Superb TDI large limo instead, which has VW-made chassis and is so large inside, you need a walking stick or a rolled-up newspaper handy if you want to beat your kids fighting in the rear seats. The choice is obvious.

Essentially the only people buying the A2 were high-salaried urban lady executives, who considered it a cute thingie. In fact this car is difficult to drive for macho types, because the accelerator and brake pedals are very losely spaced, obviously designed for sexy high-heel slippers instead of Doc Martens boots.

Most A2 cars sold were either silver (the traditional german car color) or italian red (for its a semi-Ferrari, made of Al just like the F360/F430, but only half of the cylinders, 4 instead of 8). 82.131.210.162 (talk) 09:51, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New A2 =[edit]

Currently it says:

Rumours of another new supermini model, possibly to be named 
A2, have circulated since 2009.[25] As of May 2010[update] this 
new model is expected to be an electric car, with conventional 
steel monocoque construction and is predicted to be launched in 
2012.[26]

There has been more information in the last few days (end-May/start-June 2011). The new A2 models will be Aluminium again (not steel), and probably arriving 2014. Stop-Start is mentioned as an innovation in the 1.2 TDI "3L" section. This is incorrect.[edit]

This reffed section is from the Wikipedia Economy Car page, about the origin on the VW BlueMotion system.

It is an updated version of the 1980s VW 'Formel E' system that was developed into the 1990s VW 'Ecomatic' system.[1][2][3][4]
