List-article or dab or what[edit]

Unaware of this article, I created Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot as a disambiguation page for the several NRHP-listed places with that name, or very close to it. DanTD directs my attention here, suggesting the new one should be merged into this list, "Atlantic Coast Line Depot". Actually, I think this article looks like a list-article attempting to list all stations of the Atlantic Coast Line Depot. This article seems not to be a disambiguation page, currently, or it is badly out of format per guidelines for disambiguation pages (mostly covered in wp:MOSDAB ). I think it would be best to remove the claims that this is a dab page, and develop it as a list-article instead. Note, it includes numerous places that are not named approximately "Atlantic Coast Line Depot", and it includes numerous items that are not currently separate articles and are not likely to become separate articles. Disambig pages are to help readers navigate among current (and sometimes future) wikipedia articles. If it is desired that this be kept as a disambiguation page, then it would be appropriate to delete almost all of it.

So, I think we should rename this as "List of Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Stations" or similar, and keep/expand the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot disambiguation page (and reference this list-article from there). Comments? doncram (talk) 03:11, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. FYI, by DAB page rules, the first ten entries, currently:

  1. Bradenton (ACL Station) (Bradenton, FL)
  2. Brooksville (ACL station) (Brooksville, Florida)
  3. Chiefland (ACL station) (Chiefland, Florida)
  4. Clearwater (ACL station)
  5. Crystal River (ACL station) (Crystal River, Florida)
  6. Dade City Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot
  7. DeLand (ACL station)
  8. Dunedin (ACL station)
  9. Old Dundee Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot
  10. Dunnellon Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot (part of the Dunnellon Boomtown Historic District)

could arguably be stripped down, by any dab page editor, to:

  1. Dade City Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot
  2. DeLand (ACL station)
  3. Old Dundee Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot
  4. Dunnellon Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot (part of the Dunnellon Boomtown Historic District)

with the last, red-link entry defensible only if there is another red-link to it from the Dunnellon Boomtown HD article. doncram (talk) 03:20, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can support a merger in either direction. I know the article looks more like a list than a dab, but there are so many stations that have similar and identical names that I thought the dab category was more appropriate. ----DanTD (talk) 14:55, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not a DAB[edit]

This article, as it existed in July 2019 contained the {{disambiguation}} template but was not a disambiguation page. The list includes many (all?) stations or depots on the ACL. A disambiguation page would list only stations called "Atlantic Coast Line Depot". There is now a disambiguation page at Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot; Atlantic Coast Line Depot (disambiguation) redirects there, and a hatnote on this page includes the redirect link. The current list article is, no doubt, in need of additional clean up, but rail stations are not an area of my expertise. Cnilep (talk) 07:38, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
