Attention rationale[edit]

Route description is written from north to south. – TMF 05:11, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I re-wrote the rd and removed the attention tag. Brandonrush Woooooooo pig sooie 14:35, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Some avenues to improve this article[edit]

  1. Remove the bannered routes. Put them in a Bannered routes of Arkansas Highway 1 list. They dominate this article too much. Leave behind a summary section with a paragraph that briefly summarizes the different bannered routes. As "bannered route" is a bit of a neologism, you could use Business routes of Arkansas Highway 1 as the title of the article, and "Business routes" as the summary section header. A brief mention that one is called a "spur" route in the paragraph here and the lead paragraph in the other article will resolve that discrepancy.  Done
  2. Merge the two infoboxes together. {{infobox road}} supports up to 4 sections of a highway. You can list a length for each segment as well as one for the whole highway.  Done
  3. I'd even merge the two junction lists, using a colspan to mark the gap between the two segments.  Done
  4. If I can be a tad blunt: "Segment 1" and "Segment 2" are clunky-sounding names. How about "Southern segment" and "Northern segment"?  Done
  5. You can even merge the RDs together if desired by using "McGehee–Jonesboro" as one subheading and "Clay County" as the second. If so, then I'd use the Southern/northern segment names as subsections of the history.  Done

I hope these suggestions help. Imzadi 1979  00:57, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This article is my attempt to standardize AR. I think that AR is in awful shape, but I have found some great resources and I am now ready to clean it up. I used "Segment 1" because on articles such as Arkansas Highway 74, north and south couldn't be used. I know it's not the best solution, but I don't know what should be used that could apply in all situations. I also have avoided using the word "section" because it has an actual meaning in "AHTD language" that could be confusing to readers. I really want to make this article a showcase for the rest of the state, and am willing to improve it before moving on in AR. Any input is welcome, I really think that getting some standards in place would help AR significantly, and possibly attract some other editors. I am especially open to doing anything that would attract folks from other states. Brandonrush Woooooooo pig sooie 01:26, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine, but when you have a better option than Segment 1 and Segment 2, use it. In casual conversation, I will use section, segment and even portion interchangeably, but that does not mean when there are specific meanings I will use all three. Just as we should use common names for article titles, we should use natural language in our writing, unless there's a good reason to use a technical name. B class[edit]

I am wondering if a willing editor could help me in my effort to make this a B-class article by checking against the criteria for B-Class status. What else does it need? Thanks.
