Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedy deleted because hasty ill-judged and a continuation of this users campaign against Irish cricket stub articles, please see previous rejected SDs and AFDs for Larne, Laurelvale, Portadown and Templepatrick clubs within the sister Northern Cricket Union. These are stub articles with significant coverage available within Ireland. Looks like user Mooretwin is not about to respond either.Weejack48 (talk) 08:16, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Cricket has devised notability guidelines. For clubs, while there is no specific guideline for Irish cricket, there is for English cricket. The guideline for English cricket is that any club that belongs to "one of the Bradford Cricket League, the Lancashire League, the Central Lancashire League or one of the ECB Premier Leagues is notable. In other words, clubs belonging to senior provincial leagues are notable. The provincial leagues in Ireland are the equivalent of these leagues in England and, therefore, clubs belonging to those leagues meet the notability guidelines. You can not transpose sports notability across different countries, Cricket is much bigger is England or Australia than Ireland. The guidelines that count here are WP:GNG or WP:CLUB they are the central agreed guidelines and this does not meet them. Mtking (talk) 23:48, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In the absence of specific guidelines for Irish cricket, use of the guidelines for English cricket seems reasonable enough. In any case coverage in third party sources should be sufficient, and this article does have third party citations. This article does not deserve to be deleted. --Eamonnca1 (talk) 18:45, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
