There are an article and a draft recently created on this person. The article was created in article space by User:BumakinBeauty. The draft was created by User:TimeEngineer and reviewed and declined by User:DGG with the notation "Not notable yet". I will be declining the draft as 'exists' with a notation to revise and update the article. At this point, it is my opinion that it is now a fait accompli that the article either is in article space or can be the subject of a deletion discussion. Article about a federal leader or a human rights lawyer?

Well, I seem to have missed the deletion discussion. Frankly, I am surprised this article was a keep in light of WP:NPOL. Anyway, it seems that there was weak-ish consensus here is that she's notable for her other work. Though in my view the evidence for that seems to be pretty scant. Anyway, following the leadership campaign, if she loses and we find this article is not about the leader of a federal political party but instead a failed leadership candidate who is notable for her work as a human rights lawyer, this article may need a rewrite to reflect that. The scope and content of an article about an academic or human rights lawyer may be different than what is appropriate for a federal leader.--Darryl Kerrigan (talk) 23:33, 14 August 2020 (UTC)

Some edits seem to have been made recently that focus the article on the campaign rather than the civic engagement work, which was the focus previously. Also, incorrect information has been added. I think that the article should be returned to its previous focus, which would be in alignment with the deletion discussion. TimeEngineer (talk) 16:39, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

No, I had the same concerns as you when the article started to deviate from being about her as an activist and lawyer and seemed to be morphing into an article about the campaign. Perhaps this should be expanded upon. She being the first visible minority woman to lead, and second visible minority leader after Jagmeet Singh. Singh's article has a paragraph about the fact he is the first visible minority leader of a major federal party in Canada. -- 67.70.32.97 (talk) 00:01, 4 October 2020 (UTC)

The part of the sentence in the opening paragraph of the article that contains "first Jewish woman" is misleading. One does become a religious Jew but, one does not become ethnic Jew by converting to (adopting as confession) Judaism. I believe that if the sentence in the opening paragraph is to contain reference to Paul being Jewish, it should be made clear that she is of Jewish faith not ethnicity. Therefore, the sentence should be similar to "She is the first Black Canadian and first woman of Jewish faith to be elected leader of a major federal party in Canada." 2607:FA48:6EDA:1C10:6446:17D3:7003:E84D (talk) 06:03, 28 October 2020 (UTC)

Gaps in Paul's biography

The paragraph "Early political career (1996–2020)" mentions that "Paul moved back to Canada and won the Green nomination for Toronto Centre in July 2019". However, there is no mention about her leaving Canada and for how long other than an enigmatic sentence about Paul being employee(?) of Department of Foreign Affairs Canada ([Paul] has worked in [...] international affairs positions, including in political affairs in Canada's Mission to the European Union). That alone is confusing and sounds enigmatic as if there was nothing to be told here or maybe, in reality, that period is unverifiable because it was insignificant and/or of very short duration. As a matter of fact, as far as Paul's biography concerning her past employment and service in "public affairs" positions private or public is concerned, it is a mess and should be corrected asap or removed altogether. 2607:FA48:6EDA:1C10:6446:17D3:7003:E84D (talk) 07:07, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
