Tuskegee Airmen[edit]

Andre Braugher doesn’t have the subject line movie listed in his filmography. It was an awesome movie and needs to be listed. 2603:8001:6100:1943:CD6A:E88D:2539:5C4E (talk) 02:49, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on Andre Braugher[edit]

Remove euphemisms on Death section; Change "in the days following his passing" to "in the days following his death". 2603:6081:893D:13AC:3D16:39A0:45B7:D97E (talk) 17:44, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Photo[edit]

I think the May 2011 photo is better and a more typical appearance. Thoughts? TheLoyalOrder (talk) 22:57, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling of his name[edit]

It is André Braugher not Andre. I note that his starring role in 10,000 Black Men Named George used the former. We have the typefaces that accommodate this; that other reliable sources didn't have the available typeface does not change the fact or the need for accuracy. 7&6=thirteen () 12:32, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I assure you that The Associated Press, The New York Times, The Guardian, NBC News, CNN, and countless other reliable sources that reported on Braugher's death are capable of displaying diacritics on their websites. Why do you insist that this particular exception is correct and these others are all wrong? Funcrunch (talk) 17:21, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Note also that this was a celebrity who had been notable for decades, and this Wikipedia page has been titled Andre Braugher since its creation in 2004, with no discussion on the talk page of changing it until now. Funcrunch (talk) 17:45, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Death[edit]

His Death Section must be updated saying He died following a short illness caused by Lung Cancer. 82.19.40.217 (talk) 18:35, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Source? Funcrunch (talk) 18:52, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The source is on the main page if you have a look, it's the first link, why a mention of brief illness was wrongly removed, I have no idea. 82.19.40.217 (talk) 19:09, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It was the "lung cancer" I was requesting a source for, as that was not reported initially. I see now that a source for that has been added. Funcrunch (talk) 19:23, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Birth name note[edit]

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but the hidden note for excluding Braugher's birth name in the infobox says this: "Leave this blank per format as he did not use a stage name and the subject's name must match the article name." I'm extremely confused by this note, particularly "the subject's name must match the article name". According to Template:Infobox person, birth name is "only use[d] if different from |name=."

His birth name, Andre Keith Braugher is different from the article title and |name= field. The description of this field on the template documentation, as I've always understood it, is to prevent the addition of birth names for people like Philip Seymour Hoffman, Dua Lipa, and Sam Rockwell, whose full birth names are the same as the |name= field.

This isn't a hill I'm planning to die on, but it is something that's confusing me and that seems at odds with virtually every other BLP infobox I've seen. Sock (tock talk) 15:42, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is very reasonable to add Andre Keith Braugher to |name=. See Henry Winkler, Bill Hader, Terry Crews, etc. Spinixster (chat!) 01:04, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Found that this was removed by Winditaround with this edit. Winditaround, would you mind explaining your rationale for adding this note and removing Braugher's birth name from the infobox? Sock (tock talk) 17:43, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
