Lead sentence[edit]

@Cs-wolves: I disagree with this edit due to WP:BLP concerns, broadly speaking.

BLPs must be written conservatively, and describing the subject as a "Portuguese professional road racing cyclist, suspended from the sport after a positive doping test" - reducing, therefore, his entire career to a doping incident - is not OK. This is also not really in line with MOS:FIRST (For topics notable for only one reason, this reason should usually be given in the first sentence. - not the case here), therefore: do not use the first sentence to disparage the subject with what is not relevant for his or her notability. Other provided examples are not much better in this respect. GregorB (talk) 22:04, 29 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@GregorB: It may be worth raising at WT:CYCLING as well, as this would give a greater audience to such articles. Upon looking at the most recent years covered by List of doping cases in cycling, the riders listed have a similar format to Cardoso and the other examples provided in the edit summary. It may be better to move it into a separate section, due to his ongoing appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport. As I stated in the edit summary, it was in good faith, but happy to rollback if required. Craig(talk) 22:32, 29 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Cs-wolves: A good point - maybe it's better to see first if there is a wider agreement on how these bios should be presented. I'll take a look at some other articles and perhaps take it later to WT:CYCLING. GregorB (talk) 09:44, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
