Ok, it took me a minute but I now realize you're requesting that MacOS be added to the game platforms due to Apple's new M1 chip enabling MacOS to run iOS apps. I'm not sure where this falls according to WP:VG so I'll leave it for someone else. — The Only Zac (talk) 04:04, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Might seem sus, but you'll need a source for this. Jack Frost (talk) 09:38, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
It's legit[1][2]. However there is no guideline for this at WP:MOS/VG#Platforms. It's not considered emulation because the game is running natively on the Mac hardware, and these apps are available on both the Mac App store and the iOS app store. I'm leaning towards fulfulling the edit request because it's not like every iOS app ever made is now available on Mac; the developer has to specificially update and release the app on MacOS, making it a native MacOS app. — The Only Zac (talk) 20:40, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
This falls under emulation for all purpose, which we do not include for platform considerations. We only look at native releases. --Masem (t) 21:08, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
Did you read my last post? This doesn't fall under emulation and you won't find a reliable source to say it does. The software is updated to run natively on the Mac hardware. If an app was released first on MacOS and later updated and released on iOS, you wouldn't say the iPhone is emulating MacOS. — The Only Zac (talk) 21:32, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
@The Only Zac: Is there any reliable source saying that this specific game runs on MacOS?  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 06:37, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
I've already linked two reliable sources above that confirm this game runs natively on Macs with the M1 chip. Here they are again: [3][4]The Only Zac (talk) 18:28, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Among Us has a In house engine, not Unity.

My proof is that if you start Among us it wont display the Unity screen. And that the hardware requirements are (WAY) below Unitys. Here is a little more proof literally taken from the article "Innersloth deemed the game's codebase 'outdated and not built to support adding so much new content', so the team made plans to rework the game's core code to enable adding new features." This sentence implies that they had to re work the core code, wich is pretty vague. But if you imagine that this "core code" is holding up the game just like a game engine would do they where literally re working their game engine, wich wouldnt be possible if it was third party. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:6080:A009:2258:9424:1FFA:FB7F:97FD (talk) 02:15, 24 January 2021 (UTC)

You need to provide a reliable source to support this. We cannot accept "proof" that is original research. Firstly, developers literally list Unity on the store page [5]. As for your points. You can disable Unity logo, this means nothing. Requirements are written by the developers, so they can put anything they want. "Core code" is a common and ambiguous term in software industry and doesn't imply engine code. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 11:02, 24 January 2021 (UTC)

Covert Art, Word Art

I don't understand why using the word art makes more sense than the game icon. It makes the article look a franchise, not just a singular game. Panini🥪 11:47, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

Panini!, well Oxenfree also uses the word. However yes, I don't understand why it is preferable, when a cover art is present. GeraldWL 12:19, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
I believe the reasoning is that the wordmark is comprised of just simple shapes and is thus uncopyrightable, so it falls under WP:NFCC#1. There is some debate on that (which is why it was removed from the commons) but even if the wordmark does turn out to be non-free, WP:NFCC#3 still makes it the preferred option. — The Only Zac (talk) 13:58, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
Since Commons has made the determination that the word art fails the threshold of originality (the astronaut glyph is unique enough) , then we already have a non-free piece of work ,so at this point, it doesn't matter if it is the cover art or the word art. The cover art that is put out by the devs that includes the word art would be one piece of non-free and meet NFCC#3. --Masem (t) 14:02, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
  • I've gone ahead and changed it back to cover art since this is not a series article.  Spy-cicle💥  Talk? 18:47, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

In the "Gameplay" section, in the first paragraph, perhaps change the "up to three players" to "a preordinated number of up to three players". RainbowTaIes (talk) 16:59, 29 January 2021 (UTC)

What exactly was wrong with it. I can remove Reddit mentions and the detail about The Thing but everything else I put in was material that existed in the Newgrounds podcast that is already being used as a citation. Jericho Morales (talk) 04:19, 31 January 2021 (UTC)

You removed referenced content to add your content. And the content you added is from Reddit. I believe that it can perhaps be used as a primary source, but you cannot remove content referenced. ✍A.WagnerC (talk) 13:10, 31 January 2021 (UTC)

Did I? I never meant to do that. I was copy-pasting the podcast reference because most of the content I added was referenced by that. I'll try again later. Jericho Morales (talk) 17:01, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
Just gonna ping you both Gerald Waldo Luis, A.WagnerC Jericho Morales (talk) 18:38, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
@OmegaFallon: I restored the Morales's edition. But the source is from Reddit. It seems to be from the creator of the game, which could be a primary source, but I'm in doubt whether the edition should stay or not. ✍A.WagnerC (talk) 18:40, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
@OmegaFallon: I can go on twitter and ask Forest but he might not answer, if you're unsure about it then you can just remove the Reddit cited content and keep everything else. Jericho Morales (talk) 19:39, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
Jericho Morales, I'm afraid asking him on Twitter might qualify WP:OR. GeraldWL 01:51, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
Gerald Waldo Luis I'm lost, what do you mean by that?Jericho Morales (talk) 04:50, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
Jericho Morales, basically you said that you might go to Twitter and ask Forest, then cite his Twitter reply, right? I think that it might be original research, which is a violation of the policy. GeraldWL 04:53, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
Gerald Waldo Luis Never meant I'd cite his reply. I'm sure it's his account since this [news article] (Which I have been told before as an IP user was "Unrelieble") makes reference to everything said in that Reddit post. Jericho Morales (talk) 18:19, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
@Jericho Morales: I kept an edition of you. But the content from Reddit is not recommended. ✍A.WagnerC (talk) 18:24, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

@Gerald Waldo Luis: Since you're around here, what do you think about the Morales's edition? He added a story based on a post from the game’s creator on Reddit. I restored the edition because I was in doubt as to whether it could be accepted or not, since the source could be treated as primary. I usually remove fonts from social networks. Best regards. ✍A.WagnerC (talk) 05:31, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

A.WagnerC, primary sources are fine, though a secondary source is definitely more of interest. According to WP:RSP, however, Reddit is generally unreliable, and even IAmA threads are considered unreliable. When I reviewed the GAN for Shazam! (film), I also noted the Reddit citation, and it was directly removed. Unless an interview with Forest by a reliable source based on WP:RSP or WP:VGRS exists, I don't think Morales' edition is Wikipedic. GeraldWL 05:44, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
@Gerald Waldo Luis: I also agree that the edition is not encyclopedic. But as Morales opened this discussion, I thought it best to ask other editors for their opinion. Since the article is classified as GA, I will remove the Morales's edition. ✍A.WagnerC (talk) 18:14, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
A.WagnerC @Gerald Waldo Luis: Forgive me but before I tried proposing this news article as an IP user but it was never accepted, I was told to find a primary source if I remember correctly. It says everything that was in that Reddit post. Jericho Morales (talk) 18:23, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

Mods

Hello! I'm here from Hebrew Wikipedia.
Since we have a discussion in the Hebrew article, about whether the Among Us mods should be in it or not - I wanted to ask:

  • Is there any specific reason the mods aren't in the English article?
  • Or is it just because no one thought about putting them there?

You can look at the discussion for more information: he:שיחה:Among_Us#המודים - אין מקומם בערך (Full disclosure: my stance is they shouldn't be in the article)
Thank you for your help, מבריקון (talk) 10:09, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

מבריקון, I would prevent myself from putting mod info in the article, unless they increase knowledge about the gameplay, or the reviews of the game. It doesn't seem like something that would be encyclopedic, and everyone knows that mods exist anyway. Fandom sites might like it more. Unless certain mods improve general knowledge about the game, I say no to including it. There are thousands of mods-- including all of them will ruin the article. GeraldWL 12:52, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
Thank you a lot, GeraldWL! This was actually one of my arguments in our discussion... I appreciate your advice --מבריקון (talk) 12:59, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
"everyone knows that mods exist anyway" Do they? People that play the game know they exist. Wikipedia is a general encyclopedia and the content should cover all parts of a topic proportional to content available in reliable sources. We should not assume what a reader knows or doesn't know. If reliable sources discuss mods, then we should include this. If they don't, then it's likely trivial. A sentence or a paragraph on the subject is likely appropriate here. It's very, very unlikely that a list of mods should ever be included, but a few examples based on sources that discuss those mods in greater detail may be appropriate. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 13:33, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
Hellknowz, if they impact the gameplay or have a significant legacy in the community, like Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020 video game), then yes, I support inclusions of certain mod infos. But if they're just another predictable aspect of the community, then maybe we don't need to include it; seems to qualify WP:GAMECRUFT. GeraldWL 14:08, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
Mentioning that a game has mods is not GAMECRUFT. Listing mods and what they do is likely GAMECRUFT. Where the line is drawn depends on reliable sources. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 14:15, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
It's fine to mention with some ceveats. As long as they have received significant coverage from reliable, secondary sources, then its worthy of being included. Panini🥪 17:45, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Shitposting (Amogus effect)

To: Talk:Among Us The heavy amount of shitposting which satires the videogame "Among Us" seems massive and relevant enough to me to have some sort of brief mention in this article.

As there is a lot of satire about whether or not Among Us is "dead" or "overpopulated by 5 year olds". Of course, this section would maintain the formal and encyclopedic tone of Wikipedia articles, but things such as the "Among Us Effect" As seen here:1st or in the Lego Piece 26047 (Image of the aforementioned piece, which looks like the Crewmate in Among Us.

This internet phenomenom is so big that you can literally post the Image of a trashcan without any context and many people will get the "Amogus" reference But take all of this with a bit of salt. My goal here is not to get the funnies, but to make wikipedia a better place, and I think this is a way to do it, but If you don't feel like this is the right way feel free to tell me.

@ScottishFinnishRadish: To expand on that, it is actually likely for someone to search "sus" in relation to Among Us, because the term is a major meme at this time and both this article and Sus are edit protected because of Among Us meme popularity and people constantly adding "sus" and crewmate memes. Not that there should be a redirect. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 12:07, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
It's a major meme among people playing the game. A simple web search will reveal the meme status to those who aren't familiar with it.
