Untitled[edit]

The Arabic surname is actually "Abu al-Maati", which looks like this: أبو المعاطي The full name on his (expired) Canadian passport is Amro Badr Abouelmaati.

I wonder about this "pilot" claim. I know it's the official story, but I've never seen a pilot with Coke-bottle glasses before.

Copyedits[edit]

I have restored the copyedits that User:Sherurcij reverted today These edits are all consistent with Wikipedia style:

  • I replaced the link to [[9/11|September 11 attacks]], which is a redirect with a direct link to [[September 11 attacks]]
  • I removed the second link to that article per WP:OVERLINK
  • I removed the date links per WP:MOSNUM
  • I italicized the newspaper names per WP:MOS
  • I changes "newspaper" to "newspapers" because there are two newspapers mentioned
  • I spelled out the CSIS acronym per WP:MOS - many readers will have no idea what CSIS is.

I changed back the addition of 9/11, it's ridiculous to think we should say "illegally renditioned to Syria to face torture in the years following the September 11 attacks ("9/11")" every time the attacks are mentioned. Please stop this foolishness. Sherurcij (speaker for the dead) 22:59, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I spelled that out in one instance. Please stop the personal attacks. There is no need for that. Ground Zero | t 02:50, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lead section needs clean-up[edit]

I have tagged the lead section as being too long. The readable prose for this article only warrants two paragraphs, not the four it presently has. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 00:41, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Brother separately notable[edit]

A portion of this article is about the experiences of el-Maati's brother. This may be OFFTOPIC as his brother, Ahmad El-Maati, is separately notable. To avoid this article being a COATRACK the brother's experiences should be covered in his own article and only the parts of the brother's story that relates to Amer el-Maati, such as what they both did together or what was said by his brother during questioning should be covered in this article. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 00:54, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
