Shameless Plug[edit]

I have a Philips tv with Ambilight. It's a 3-sided version.--71.35.69.46 22:17, 4 December 2006 (UTC) Is Ambilight patented? What is the patent number? When will this patent expire?[reply]

Seems that some people already try to clone this technic
For example see Momolight [1] (stands for Movie Mood Light) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.131.102.26 (talk) 10:35, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No real advertisement[edit]

I don't find this article to be an advertisement. It provides basic, though useful information for consumers who want to know more about Ambilight. Note that if it speaks about the positives/benefits of the technology, it says "the company claims" or "Philips claims" which is fair enough. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.119.115.225 (talk) 09:59, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I second that it sounds too much like and advertisement and needs to be edited. --173.16.22.10 (talk) 08:03, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The most recent additions to the article, by 123.237.140.122 on Jan 30, are definitely ad material:

Ambient Light Technology is a unique theater lighting system that actively adjusts both brightness and color based upon picture content. Integrated into the television cabinet, Ambient Light Technology enables your eye to see more picture detail, contrast and color while eliminating on-screen reflections for a better and more immersive viewing experience.

Ambilight technology works by 'intelligently' projecting light from the rear of the set in an almost infinite combination of possible colours, shades and intensity. Viewers can choose to have Ambilight follow the colour and brightness of the programme content - automatically changing with the colours on the screen - or alternatively the light levels and colour can be set to match the interior decor or mood in the room. When the television isn't on the the unit simply becomes a lamp. The new Philips sets are also the first to utilise built-in NXT Monolith speakers mounted around the LCD panels and developed so that the outer surface of the TV cabinet is the actual speaker membrane; allowing the speakers to remain virtually invisible.

In these days adults and children are staring at screens for extended amounts of time, both at home and on the road. When we focus on one thing for too long, the accommodating eye muscles get stressed and tired, thereby causing visual fatigue. Philips Ambilight TV with the back light feature, helps ease eye fatigue and strain.

Aurea flat TV is the ultimate in Ambilight viewing pleasure.

It emits an aura of light from the front of the TV as well as on all four sides. A further refinement is that it reflects a whole range of colours from each side of the screen its a quite breathtaking effect. It creates a cinematic screen that seems to pull you into the action like never before. The colours and dynamics of each image spread beyond the screen, creating sensational lighting effects. With an original musical score to inspire you as you watch, see and hear how Aurea excites.

The whole Series of Ambilight family offers Full HD 1080p for better definition, HD Natural Motion for even smoother motion and sharper pictures, Colour Booster for greater vividness and more natural skin tones, and 100Hz Clear LCD for improved motion reproduction. The new Flat TVs featuring Ambilight are available on select models across the range and include 32', 37', 42' and 50' screen sizes.
