Pi algebraic?[edit]

Pi algebragic over R?! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pi

This gave me a start too, as I've just been reading about field theory & transcendence for the first time. The penultimate part of field extension explains it much better (though using e as an example), so I've added a bit using that as a model. Junkyardprince (talk) 15:18, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Useless statement should be deleted[edit]

"(The definition of the term transcendental number uses C/Q, not C/R.)"

Maybe there's something I'm not seeing here but this statement seems just to be a little confusing and useless. I am not an algebra pro though so I won't fuck with it.
