Unfortunately, the Toronto Daily Star is available only by subscription at pagesofthepast.ca and the Evening Telegram is available on microfilm only.

Three programs of productions in which Alfred Kidney was stage director are on line at tloa.timetraces.ca. —Anne Delong (talk) 22:47, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

One of my references from the Toronto Star says that Alfred Kidney performed in Scotland and Ireland before coming to Toronto. I found an article on the British Newspaper Archive on Thursday 09 March 1911, in the Dundee Courier, Angus, Scotland, about an Alfred Kidney who was a soloist. However, I don't have a subscription to this archive, and couldn't read enough of the article to see whether it was the same person. If anyone has any information about Alfred Kidney, light opera performer and director, in Scotland or Ireland, please help with this page. Thanks —Anne Delong (talk) 17:36, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'd suggest you get in touch with WikiProject Resource Exchange. Someone there may be able to help you. Leaving a note at WikiProject Scotland might also turn up someone with access to the Dundee Courier (and other Scottish newspaper) archives. Voceditenore (talk) 11:38, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I do, in fact, have access to Scottish newspapers, living in Edinburgh. Adam Cuerden (talk) 16:39, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Voceditenore for the suggestions. I hadn't thought of that. Adam, if you wouldn't mind checking to see if there is mention of a singer and light opera performer named Alfred Kidney in the papers to which you have access, I would be grateful. If it's the same man, it would help fill out information about his early career. —Anne Delong (talk) 19:29, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'll try. I probably can't do it that soon, though - I just got given the music for our next concert. I'm chorus, but it's still a half inch thick, our music director has very high standards, and I haven't done some of it in years. Being in one of the most active Gilbert and Sullivan Societies can take up a lot of time. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 19:15, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
