Hi Vivian,

I think you have a great foundation on the Wikipedia article. You have included many crucial points in terms of education and background information, but there is definitely more room to expand. Some areas you may want to build on or address may include details of her childhood, important relationships she has had (mentors, parents, etc.), other novels she has written besides Always Coca-Cola, and other aspects of her life that is influential to her writing.

Looking at the article right now, I think you need more information that demonstrates her notability. Has she involved herself in any type of activism that made her well known. If she is not involved with activism, you could also mention the success of Always Coca-Cola and its contribution to Arab women literature.

Another suggestion that I would make is to include hyperlinks throughout the article. Hyperlinking Yale University, Lebanese American University, Rhonda Orme Award, etc. will really make the article “stick” as Meaghan pointed out before.

Overall I would say you have a good start, but you simply need to add more bulk and volume to the article. There needs to be more categories in biography and more information on her works. Good luck and good job!

Best, Richard Chen

Hi Vivian,

I see that you have made some changes in terms of hyper linking some key terms, which links your article to other articles that are clearly notable by Wikipedia standards. I still think that in term of content you could really develop more. The section concerning her early life is still a little thin and I think there are some gaps that need to be filled. I really suggest gathering information on more of her works. I realize that Always Coca-Cola may be a really important novel, but I just think that her relevance would build if you could highlight more of her works, but I guess if she does not have any other works then you would not be able to do that.

I remember that we had talked outside of class about how your author is more modern and is kind of obscure, so I suppose that there are areas that you cannot possibly fill in. Because of this, I wish you the best of luck and hope that you can find some more information.

I think due to the lack of biographical information on her, you could approach gathering information of another angle. You could read up on some reviews of her works and summarize some general consensus surrounding her writing. You may be able to also explore some possible themes in Always Coca-Cola to give more background into her works. This method would only really be able to build on her public reception category.

Overall, good work at finding all this information so far. Have fun editing.

Hi Vivian,

I think you are off to a good start so far with your article. I can tell from reading it that Chreiteh is known for her work, Always Coca-Cola. However, other than for the frankness of her writing and her portrayal of the barriers that women still face in the Arab world, I cannot truly tell what differentiates her from other Arab writer and what makes her notable. I think you did a great job in organizing your article, but I feel that you can improve on some points of content.

I would first suggest adding hyperlinks throughout the article to really make it “stick.” I would possibly hyperlink the words/phrases: “Lebanese American University,” “Beruit, Lebanon,” “Yale University,” “Russian,” and “Lebanese.” I feel that hyperlinking these words will not only help the reader reference the data faster, but also give the reader a better sense of your writer’s cultural context.

I know it may be difficult for you to find substantial information on Chreiteh since she is such a young writer, but I felt that certain points of the article were lacking. When was she born? How does her early life affect her writing? Did her father’s Lebanese descendent have something to do with her motivation to write? What influenced her to write? What makes her different in comparison to other women writers, who write about the barriers that women face in the Arab world? By answering some of these points, I feel that your article will become more effective in terms of emphasizing Chreiteh’s notability.

I would also suggest changing the title of the “Works” sections to just “Always Coca-Cola” because she does not have any plural works yet.

Your description of Education was great. I think this section adds to why Chreiteh is so impressive.

Your article is good so far, but with a few information and bulking enhancements, it will even be better! Good luck!

Hello again Vivian,

I can really see the improvements in your article! I especially like how you took my suggestion, and changed the title of the “Works” section to just “Always Coca-Cola.” I commend you on all of the additional background information that you were able to find, but I think you still need to explicitly state what makes Chreiteh distinguishable. Although you mentioned that her novel, Always Coca-Cola, “garnered much attention,” I think it is important to add specific details of why it garnered the attention. What exactly in the novel “resonated with readers”? What issues did Chreiteh address in the book that “were not commonly spoken about”?

I know it has probably been difficult to find more information on Chreiteh and her background, but I think it is important to try to relate her background and how it correlated and influenced her first novel. Maybe you could try to pick out the main themes of her book and write about what these themes say about her as the writer. By doing so, I feel that the readers will come to understand Chreiteh better.

I also like how you emphasized the potential that Chreiteh has in the “Critical Reception” section. Because she is so young, I am sure that Chreiteh will continue to accomplish and write more in the future, and I think you did a great job getting that point across.

Overall, I found your article to be very organized and direct. It gives the readers a newfound appreciation for Chreiteh and all that she has accomplished. Great job!
