Biographical information[edit]

There is some biographical information posted here. It is on an Internet forum, so it cannot be considered a WP:RS. -- Petri Krohn 07:26, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Even some more info here - but alas, again a forum. DLX 06:05, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ain-Ervin Mere & NKVD[edit]

This mentions Ain-Ervin Mere as being a NKVD agent code-named "Müller" since 1940. However, I would not call the source even remotely reliable, although being written by "Jüri Kadak, Doctor of Politology, independent expert of security and political technology" (whatever the latter means).

Also, [1] has his picture, but I don't think it is out of copyright. What is the copyright status of WWII-portraits - or can we have it under fair use? DLX 15:24, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, here is a better source. Apparently he is also known as "Ain Mere" (I will add that name form to the article as well). DLX 15:38, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As an example of legitimate use of political technology, see Politech. In this context, however, I suspect it has an idiosyncratic meaning -- perhaps, technological means of political repression, such as bugging devices? Digwuren 15:53, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Soviet-bio-stub[edit]

Regarding this - well, he was NKVD agent, and last time I checked, NKVD was a secret service of Soviet Union. And his trial was in Soviet Union. So, in my opinion, that tag is fully justified. DLX 17:51, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any reason to believe, that he was not involved in Operation Jungle. If he was, are there any sources? -- Petri Krohn 22:29, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Um, wouldn't it be neutral/NPOV to ask "Is there any reason to believe he was involved in Operation Jungle."? Tried to find a source mentioning his involvement, but couldn't find any - however, that does not mean he wasn't. I doubt that MI6 is willing to show full records about it, too. In any case, unsourced material cannot be put to the article. DLX 05:21, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's unlikely, for four separate reasons.
Zeroth, a rather small share of all Baltic war refugees ended up in this operation.
First, it's known that Operation Jungle ended up compromised and most of the active participants died through Soviet hands. We know that this wasn't how Mr. Mere died.
Second, Mere having had a history of switching sides, his joining such an intelligence operation and then refusing to coöperate with KGB as a double agent would seem uncharacteristic.
Third, the operation compromised *before* the trials, his involvement would likely have been brought up in the trials. It would have been a good fit for the "only Western spies are against Soviet power!" myth so beloved by the Big Brother. This does not appear to have been the case.
Not that any reasons would convince Petri Krohn that his new pet theory might be unreal, mind you. Digwuren 06:24, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is likely that this page will be linked on Wikipedia's Front Page in the next few days. I suggest we expand the article before that. -- Petri Krohn 18:35, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why is that likely!? Why should this stub of confusion end up on the front page?!--Alexia Death 18:54, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is very unlikely. Although I don't follow the Main Page closely, I have never seen a stub featured there.Colchicum 19:10, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's funny, that talk page says absolutely nothing about justification for including it on the front page. I don't know how you managed to get your pet peeve featured on the main page despite the article being an unsourced stub, but my hat is off to you. Unigolyn 23:43, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This cat is to be deleted[edit]

There is no such thing as "Holocaust in Estonia", instead it is "The Holocaust", the categoy is totally fake. All the articles tagged here are done so by User:Petri Krohn, known anti Estonian POV pusher. There are no articles-categories "Holocaust in Latvia", "Holocaust in Belarus" or "Holocaust in Lithuania". This is simple Original Research and POV pushing and without whatsoever notability or reliable sources.

   and so on..
What is the point to hide it?? What reliable sources do you need more than a documents you can find in the archives in Tallinn??
