Kicking it off

The Canberra Times ran a double spread on A.C.T. yesterday, marking 50 years of operations. The past year has been a volatile one, mainly due to heavy public criticism of delays, exacerbated by the introduction of a flawed voice recognition system which directly caused the breakaway of many owners and drivers to form Cabxpress. However, the taxi industry as a whole remains strongly criticised. There are a maximum of 280 cabs on the road, and often there is a queue of two or three hundred passengers waiting for a cab at the airport.
