Necessary Improvements[edit]

This article as I have written it is a start. However if anyone as additional verifiable information to add, especially about the tempos for the remaining two movements, please feel free to do so.

Also the analysis needs to be beefed up, however I am not sufficiently skilled to do so. The references and external links contain various journalistic accounts, but I have not located any formal studies online.Graham1973 (talk) 15:10, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

'setting'[edit]

What is a 'setting'? A scene or movement? Is there a better way to say this?

From the first sentence: "the other being a setting of Swinburnes' The Garden of Proserpine" LaTeeDa (talk) 01:30, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

'Setting' in this context refers to setting the words to music, if the setting is for two soloists (one voice, one instumental), then it is termed an Art Song, for larger settings a variety of terms can be used, cantata, motet or anthem.
I've also taken the step of editing that sentance to make it clearer.Graham1973 (talk)
That helps - thanks. LaTeeDa (talk) 10:59, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for pointing out that what I had written was unclear and also for the fixes you have made to date. I'll keep them in mind when I start work on an article covering the Cantata RVW wrote based on the Swinburne poem.Graham1973 (talk) 13:06, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No problem at all. By the way, maybe you know more about Swinburne than me. The biographical article, Algernon Charles Swinburne, is mostly unsourced, and looks from my perch like pure copy and paste from another source. I tried to find where this is copied from, but no luck. Any thoughts? LaTeeDa (talk) 02:17, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sadly, no. But I have taken the step of adding a 'Multiple Issues' template to the article. Graham1973 (talk) 14:22, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
