33 1/3 vs. The Oscars[edit]

Many sources note that this special was seen opposite the Academy Awards. However, this was not the case back in the Eastern US, where it was seen opposite The Avengers on ABC (which was in its final season). The special was also seen in the time slot normally occupied by Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, which was normally seen on Mondays on NBC (4/14/1969 was on a Monday). Considering that Laugh-In was 1969's top show and that the Oscars did not begin until later in the east, NBC probably wanted this show to succeed, but apparently, this was not the case. -- azumanga 21:29, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Im looking through the article, but dont know what to do with this part, or how to word it if someone has an idea of where to put it.

Here is the portion.

33⅓ Revolutions Per Monkee is generally considered today as a satirical look at The Monkees' history, taking aim at their "manufactured" origin. The plot is believed to mirror the group's timeline from their assembly to that point (i.e. their relabeling as "Monkees", performing as a group, rediscovering their individual selves, and finally breaking free from control). "The Beginning of The End" might have also foretold the eventual demise of The Monkees, which would cease to exist officially by the end of 1971.
