Rhino[edit]

Rhino was removed but he's confirmed as a candidate https://www.elections.ca/Scripts/vis/candidates?L=e&ED=35061&EV=54&EV_TYPE=3&PC=&PROV=ON&PROVID=35&MAPID=&QID=8&PAGEID=17&TPAGEID=&PD=&STAT_CODE_ID=-1 ???? Shall I remove the other who are not confirmed ??? Xerwer (talk) 20:31, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The infobox is for major candidates only. You can mention him in the article body, though. -- Earl Andrew - talk 21:27, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I consider myself as a major candidate. oh fuck it. Xerwer (talk) 01:21, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Advocacy[edit]

I've reverted the edits to the Julia Kole section made by @User:SheamusPatt, who mentions in edit descriptions "Added Julia Kole photo - with her permission". I don't know or wish to know if the user is an NDP volunteer etc that would definitely land in WP:COICAMPAIGN. Even if not the edits to the body were definitely in the ballpark of Wikipedia:Advocacy. So I just want to put out a reminder to people of that: "Wikipedia is not a platform for public relations campaigns, even for worthy causes. If information needs to be published, there are many media outlets. Once information has been published, it may be noticed by Wikipedia editors and utilized as a reference." I'm not on Ms. Kole's team or staff, though I admit to being an NDP supporter. I thought it important to add her photo precisely to provide balance - the page previously had the Liberal candidate's photo but no other. I approached her (online) for a photo because it would be inappropriate to simply grab one off the internet somewhere, so yes, it was used "with permission".

Adding the photo was a great contribution, actually. Thanks for that! I suppose the issue was with your description with the candidate, which I personally had no issue with, though I admit to being an NDP supporter as well ;-) -- Earl Andrew - talk 17:11, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Ron Chhinzer Background[edit]

Earl Andrew, why do you keep removing parts of Ron Chhinzer's background? Every candidate has a oneliner brief as to who they were prior to running as a candidate. The citation is admittedly from his campaign website, but the same could be said for the NDP candidate who's citation is taken from her LinkedIn profile. Please discuss why you removed it in the talk section or your comments. — Preceding unsigned comment added by FluffyCanada (talkcontribs) 20:58, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@FluffyCanada: Your edits fail Wikipedia's WP:POV guide lines. This is an encyclopedia, not a campaign brochure. Please re-write your edits so they use neutral language. Thanks. -- Earl Andrew - talk 21:03, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Earl Andrew The comments do meet Wikipedia's WP:POV guidelines. Everything said is factual and is presented in an unbiased way. If you disagree could you provide specifics. FluffyCanada (talk) 21:09, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
First off, you used his first name, "Ron" instead of his last name. That is was too familial for an encyclopedia. Secondly, the line "this police program succeeded in implementing one of the world’s largest and most successful gang exit strategies." is obviously not neutral a sentence. It's pure campaign fluffery. -- Earl Andrew - talk 21:14, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Your first point is a valid criticism, made the edit.
Addressing your second point, the line speaks to what the Toronto Police Service’s Integrated Gang Prevention Task Force actually does. It provides the reader with more information as to what Chhinzer worked on as a police officer prior to him becoming a politician.
The previous backgrounder on Chhinzer that you reverted to simply says: "a police officer". I hope you can agree with me that deserves to be expanded on. FluffyCanada (talk) 21:35, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
