Importance[edit]

Though I've dropped all the other GPs for this year to 'mid' importance, I'm retaining this as is because it is the first night race. Comments? Apterygial (talk) 10:29, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reword/remove?[edit]

Currently the article states "All drivers finishing the race completed it within the same lap as the leader." - not entirely true as Raikkonen was still classified as a finisher in 15th place, albeit 4 laps down. If you classify finishing as having completed all 61 laps, well the statement is true for all GP's as any lapped cars don't 'finish' the race. Can it be re-worded or should it be removed? Removed. Unnecessary trivia that adds no particular value to the article. LeaveSleaves (talk) 19:56, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Official name[edit]

Please STOP changing the official name to the 9th.

It is the 9th time Singapore held a Grand Prix, but it is the first SingTel Singapore Grand Prix.

I don't speak without proof.

1st Singapore GP is just grossly wrong. It is the 1st Singapore GP held as part of the F1 calendar. Prior to it, it was held as part of the Formula Libre calendar. You may wish to participate in the discussion at WT:F1#Singapore GP name first, and come to consensus with the project editors before making the changes. - oahiyeel talk 05:52, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly, the link you provided is not a reliable reference. Secondly, the original race was officially named the first through to the eighth Singapore Grand Prix. The 2008 race simply cannot be the first Singapore Grand Prix. Please gain consensus before making these edits again. Readro (talk) 07:59, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You'll need a much better reference than that, as neither the FIA nor the official F1 website refer to this race as the first Singapore GP. Both use the term "2008 FORMULA 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix". The 1st Singapore GP was in 1965, and was officially named as such. There cannot be two "first" Singapore GPs. The fact that this was the first all-F1 GP held there, and the first to be part of the championship is irrelevant, no matter what the title sponsor would like to claim. The numbering system does not restart every time the sponsor changes. Bretonbanquet (talk) 08:28, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reaction formatting[edit]

I'm not entirely convinced that the current formatting (with all the indented quotes) is entirely what we should be looking for on this page, see When not to use quotations. I'd be happy to incorporate the quotes into some form of running text, as appears to be the norm, but I want to get consensus on this first. At the moment it looks a bit like Wikiquote. Can someone explain?[edit]

"This was soon to play into the Renault drivers' hands."

Might have played into Alonso's hands, but didn't exactly play into Piquet's hands. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.109.113.47 (talk) 13:14, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are completely right. I changed drivers' to driver's to be specific to Alonso. My impression from Piquet was that he was pretty pissed off with himself after the race. Apterygial (talk) 23:11, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
