The source quotes 124 but 123 makes sense given a total of 166?
White assembly only[edit]
This is the election results for the white assembly only. It omits the results for the Indian and coloured assemblies.Royalcourtier (talk) 04:29, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Royalcourtier: As far as I am aware, only the white assembly was elected in 1987. The Indian and coloured ones were elected in 1984 and 1989. Number 57 08:55, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
- Correct. The House of Assembly (white) was elected in 1981. Then after the 1983 Constitution was passed the Houses of Representatives (coloured) and Delegates (Indian) were elected for the first time in 1984. The existing House of Assembly continued without a new election. The term of Parliament was 5 years under the 1983 constitution, so there was no requirement for elections until 1989. But the government decided to call elections for only the House of Assembly in 1987, because it was by then actually already 6 years since the last election of that house. Then in 1989 the first (and, as it turns out, last) simultaneous election of all three houses was held. - htonl (talk) 14:03, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Percentages don't add up[edit]
For instance: the Conservative Party received 574,502 votes out of 2,069,254, which by my count is 27,8%. Not 26,6% as the article states. This is the most egregious example, but the voter share for the NP and HNP also appear to be slightly off. Or am I missing something here? -- Darthdyas (talk) 02:14, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
