Sherpas on oath?[edit]

Piledhigheranddeeper raises an interesting point about whether the Sherpas were asked to swear an oath of obedience. Well, not in Paris because they weren't there but I guess not at all. The sources don't mention this aspect which is why I can only guess. A disobedient Sherpa would have simply been told to leave. It was usual for the mountaineers in the 1950s to have to swear obedience or no publication so it is mentioned here not because it was unusual but because it became contentious later. And they wouldn't have ever imagined a Sherpa writing a book any more than they would suspect a servant of being a murderer in an Agatha Christie novel. Thincat (talk) 15:26, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
