Comments[edit]

This article really, really needs to be sourced - doubly so since it's about a living person. Hardly any statement made here is attributed to any source. -- Schneelocke 12:01, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reply: The article is edited in a great extent from sources in Turkish language, which are also referenced. CeeGee 21:47, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How can he be a veteran of the Turkish Invasion of Cyprus which took place in 1974 and at the same time be born in 1980??

Reply: Is the sentence "Özgür Dengiz was born to Satılmış, a non-commissioned officer and veteran of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, and Sultan, a seamstress." is not clear enough to indicate that not him but his father was in Cyprus? Please advise. CeeGee 21:47, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some other suggestions:

  • Can a note be added to indicate how his name is pronounced?
Reply: I tried it for you, but without warranty. œz̟ɟyɾ d̪enɟiz̟ CeeGee 21:47, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • "His mother opened a tailor shop for him; however, he did not stop by even briefly." -- This passage is awkward & unclear. Is the intent to say that his mother tried to find him work by opening a tailor shop for him? If so, what happened to the business when he did not participate?
Reply: Is it really hard to understand that he was uninterested to work even in a business his mother created for him? Please advise. I guess the outcome of the tailor shop is irrelevant. CeeGee 21:47, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Dengiz killed Sedat Erzurumlu, a computer engineer, who angered him by saying they could not afford to buy the laptop they had been looking at." -- What was their relationship? The omission of information about their relationship inadvertently implies that they had a much closer relationship -- i.e., they were lovers. Some explanation about how they knew each other -- if Erzurumlu was the salesclerk at the store, or even if he simply was a stranger who happened by at the moment Dengiz was looking at the computer -- would be useful.
Reply: Sorry, but at this moment being there is no further information available about the relationship between them. Maybe the upcoming trial will bring light into this. CeeGee 21:47, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Taboos about cannibalism -- Almost all cultures have taboos about cannibalism; people are very uncomfortable about the possibility that a friend, family member -- or even a stranger -- may be sizing them up for lunch. I suspect that what is meant is that Turkey (& likely other Islamic countries) more strongly condemn cannibalism than non-Islamic societies. If this is so, it needs to be explained; there is no information at Cannibalism about this. -- llywrch 18:18, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone tell what was meant by this sentence: "Later on, Dengiz tried to sell one of the laptops, but was cheated out of the money." You don't need money to sell something. If it meant he was cheated out of the money he got from the laptop it means he didn't only try to sell it, he succeeded. If someone did cheat him, it would also be a good idea to tell how it was done(if possible). (Vehement (talk) 13:09, 22 June 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Reply: He was cheated by the buyer of laptop. Özgür Dengiz made a fake id from Sedat's id and opened a law suite to the buyer later on.
  • It says he served 10 years. It can not be because the parole he get out was Rahsan Ecevit's Parole which invoked at 22 Dec 2000. By the way article says he shot a garbage man (whom named Abbas Sinan or Abbas İnan). Article does not give any information about what happened to him (first i understood he died too). It would be good to mention that he did not die. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.185.3.115 (talk) 23:05, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hello, when I clicked on the refrences it brought me to blank pages and error codes, maybe you should try looking up different sources? EGuss (talk) 05:15, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
