Punyavathi is a 1967 Telugu-language drama film, produced by Vasu Menon under the Vasu Studios banner and directed by V. Dadamirasi. It stars N. T. Rama Rao, Krishna Kumari, Shobhan Babu and the music is composed by Ghantasala.[1][2] The film was a remake of the Hindi film Nai Roshni (1967).

Plot[edit]

Professor Krishna Rao is a great educationist. During his youth, he has knitted to a wise woman Parvati and they has a son Prakash. Later, lack of ill-health Parvati losses her sight and Krishna Rao expels her with Prakash. Following, he nuptials vainglory Padmavati and their progeny are Shekar & Chitra. Along with them, Krishna Rao adopts his friend's daughter Shanti. Padmavati one that neglects her family and spends the life modernistic. To make things worse, she makes Chitra accustomed to it. As a result, Chitra falls scapegoat to a hoodwink Ramesh, gets pregnant, and commits suicide. Sekhar turns into an alcoholic due to inadequate adoration and roams around with fellow industry workers in search of affection. Meanwhile, Parvati civilizes Prakash as a lecturer, but loathes his father. Despite beingunbeknownst, Prakash takes guidance from Krishna Rao when falls for Shanti and as time passes by, a great bonding of respect forms between Prakash and Krishna Rao. The saddened parents Krishna Rao and Padmavati become bedridden with Chitra's death and with Shanti's good words, Sekhar arrives and reunites the family. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Prakash & Shanti.
