The image depicted is of Shiva proper and in my opinion not Bhairava as indicated. Bhairava's image is of a frightful being, most often shown carrying the head of Brahma which he cut off. There isn't a mainstream or sizable minority tradition that I'm currently aware of that tells the story of Kali standing over the fearsome aspect of Shiva (Bhairava). There is of course the story of Kali standing over the body of Shiva proper, thinking she had slain him, biting her tougue in shame and holding the head of a demonic figure that she had defeated. It is in my opinion that the caption for this illustration be changed back to Shiva. LeMaster 16:07, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of Kali offensive?[edit]

I find the picture of Kali standing over a sleeping Shiva offensive. I think the artist has exaggerated some elements in commonly found Hindu imagery to make it a bit perverse. The things that I find objectionable is the waist ornament of arms and the excessively long tongue. I vote for this picture to be removed from the nominations.  — [Unsigned comment added by Khiray (talkcontribs).]
