On July 7, 1905, the first revenue train operated on the 2 ft (610 mm) gauge Illinois Tunnel Company railway in Chicago when an 11-car train was dispatched from the Erie Railroad freight house. The 5 cars seen here were delivered to the Milwaukee Road freight house. The elevator in the foreground goes down to the tunnel.
