Week 2: January 6 - January 12

The 219.7-meter long (720 ft 10 in) Solkan Bridge forms the middle of an S curve carrying the railway over the Soča River in western Slovenia. With an arch span of 85 meters (279 ft), it is the world's longest stone arch railroad bridge (and second-longest stone arch bridge, after Germany's Syratal Viaduct, a road bridge).

Week 4: January 20 - January 26

The Soyuz TMA-22 spacecraft is rolled out by train on its way to the launch pad at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, on November 11, 2011. All Baikonur's logistics are based on its own intra-site 1,520 mm (4 ft 11+27⁄32 in) gauge railway network, which is the largest industrial railway on the planet.

Newly restored 6960 Raveningham Hall pulls away from Blue Anchor station on its way to Minehead, Somerset, England, as part of the West Somerset Railway Winter Steam Festival in December 2011.

Seen on the occasion of an Open Day in August 1964, British Railways 0-6-0, formerly SR USA class, No. 30072 is a late survivor of the hundred or so American wartime 'switchers' brought over by the US Army in 1942-43. After the War, in 1946 14 were purchased by the Southern Railway for use at Southampton Docks.

The train used for the slow television program "Sommertoget" stands at Trondheim Central Station on June 22, 2017. During the day for three months that summer, the train traveled across the Norwegian railway network. The trips were recorded and shown in real time on NRK's television network during the day and then summarized in the evening.
