On 17 June 2023, a passenger bus traveling from Lahore to Rawalpindi overturned on M-2 Motorway near Kallar Kahar, which is about 133 km away from Islamabad. Preliminary reports from the National Highways and Motorway Police suggest that the accident was caused by brake failure.[1]

Casualties[edit]

The accident resulted in at least 13 fatalities, including five women and three children. Additionally, 25 passengers were injured. There were a total of 34 passengers on board the bus.[2]

Response[edit]

Police and rescue teams were quick to respond to the accident and launched a rescue operation immediately. The injured and deceased passengers were transported to the district headquarters hospital.[3]
