If I'm not mistaken, this sound is the supposed to be the same as the General American vowel in "this." Am I wrong, or is this sound really off? --Jsilv (talk) 16:06, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe mine's not the best but the current one sounds like a pygmy trying to utter the Swedish letter 'y'. <ы> is hard to pronounce by itself it needs a consonant in front of it. Indeed, no Russian words start with <ы>. Why was mine worse than the current? --Shandristhe azylean 22:30, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
