Description
English: The afternoon light falls on the wintery foreground. In the distance behind the newly-built Norstedts house the steeple of the Riddar-holmen church is silhouetted against the sky. Emma Toll studied in Paris in 1878–83 and exhibited several times at the Salon there. This view, painted after her return, reveals French influences and a strong interest in light and sketchy brushwork. But her subject – a snow-covered cityscape – was typically Swedish.
Svenska: Eftermiddagsljuset faller in över den vintriga förgrunden.
