Notes
  • Significance: This was the first structure in Galveston to use the French Renaissance style with the mansard roof. The original building, constructed in 1869, burned shortly after completion. It is believed that the present structure was identical to the recently destroyed building. ... The firm had an office and its factory in New York City at 466-468 Broadway. Felix Halff and Albert Weis were the founders with Robert Weis a member of the company. The Weis brothers were natives of Germany and in 185 the firm was reorganized as the Weis Brothers. In 1887 they occupied the building opposite the old Greenleve, Block and Company building.
  • Unprocessed Field note material exists for this structure: FN-172
  • Survey number: HABS TX-3296-K
