Description
Svenska: TERRIN med lock och fat. Karotten oval med rak profil, plan botten samt på ändarna med utåtböjda flikiga handtag med vulstiga fästen. Lock kupigt, i form av en liggande and med huvudet vänt åt vänstra sidan; sarg låg. Fat ovalt, med nästan plan botten, kälformig kep samt snett utstående, rakt brätte. Karott: Med dekor av lotusblommor, fiskar och andra blommor och vattenväxter. Fat: På insidan i botten en mandarinand, färger som locket, däromkring dekor som på karotten. Glasyren med s. k. orangeskalsyta, karottens bräddkant och lockets sarg oglaserade, karotten och fatet på bottens utsida oglaserade.Tureen . Porcelain tureen and tray with lid shaped like a mandarin duck, decorated in overglaze enamels and gildingQing dynasty, c.1750-60Created as an elaborate soup tureen for a European table, the manifold symbolism expressed in the decoration would have been impenetrable to Western clients. The mandarin duck seated in a lotus flower that forms the lid, and is painted on the tray ,anticipates a happy marriage and many sons, while the fish, water weed and lotus on the dish and tray form a pun “ may you live in affluence and purity for year after year”.
