English: First Class Smoking Room on the 'Orama' (1911) Interior of the passenger liner 'Orama' (1911) showing the after end of the First Class Smoking Room, on the Promenade Deck. The main public rooms on the 'Orama' were designed by the architect Robert Whyte (1873-1949). The First Class Smoking Room was decorated in the Dutch Colonial style with Italian walnut panelling. A cartouche incorporating a ship is visible above the doors out to the First Class Verandah Lounge. The carving and plastering work was carried out by the Bromsgrove Guild of Applied Arts. |
